AM has something to do with the Texas or National Forrest Service. As far as I recall there are no Forrest in West Texas.

When I was in Houston we had a sailplane club at Hemstead, Tex. Really about equal from Houston to College Station.

One of our great members and instructors was Al Sterling. He ran the AM fire school. I had flown over it in sailplanes many times. On north side of town.

They operated out of a old USAF base from WW 2 now closed. They started fires on all sorts of things and practiced putting them out in different ways.

So I assume that is why are involved. Hubcity
