So I signed up to coach my son's 6&7 year old basketball team. I've assisted with football and tee ball before so I can deal with the kids attention spans and lack of ability for the most part... but I just realized that when it comes game time I don't know how to get them to run an offense.
Any suggestions for simple offense for this age group? I'm thinking about starting out with an isolation play where you just send one kid to bring the ball down and everyone else stands out around the 3 point line. The kid with the ball backs their defender down in the post and shoots. Let the kids take turns doing that all game.
At some point that won't work anymore though, so I'd like something else I can work on. This is what his team did last year and it was fine for the first few games, but as the other kids practiced and improved their defense over the season it became pretty useless.
