OT: Rooting a Samsung Galaxy S5

My son deleted some videos of him when he was younger which I'd like to recover from a Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone is about 1.5 years old.

I really don't know anything at all about rooting or jailbreaking....or the pros/cons of doing it.....other than that's the only way to recover the video files from it. We haven't used the phone at all since he deleted them yesterday.

I've seen this free app on CNET and thinking about using it....

Any advice/tips would be much appreciated ! Will it allow me to recover them ?
