I have to share with you guys that I heard from a coaching buddy this past weekend.

So we all know players are coached up to fake injuries at certain moments on d in order to get organized or to get some rest....

Well a buddy of mine says the dc on their staff has his kids coached to fake an injury whenever their defense scores a touchdown, i.e. Fumble return, pic 6, nothing serious just a gimp or a sudden cramp so they can make sure that they can get together their transition field goal team or what not without taking a penalty or having too much confusion.

Well sure enough they score on a 97 yard fumble return this weekend. And everyone forgets.

As their starting 3 tech is running towards the sideline their defensive coordinator starts yelling for him to lay down and fake it.

The kid drops dead, and their trainer, young, only been on the job for a couple months, goes out to inspect.

When asked what was wrong with him the kid responds. "I can't feel my legs." Lolol he had an f'n story picked out and everything.

Well things start getting weird for this poor kid as the athletic trainer loses her mind and things quickly begin to escalate for such a serious potential injury.
He try's to assure her that he thinks he will be ok. In fact he's already starting to feel a lot better. But she will have none of it. He is told not to try to move as they prepare for proper protocol to begin.

soon athletic trainers from both teams are on the field, followed by head coaches, followed by the AD.

The kid has now reached the point of no return. He made up his story and he is going to have to stick with it. Immobilized on a cart, ambulance on the field. As ten trainers help hoist this 300+ pound lineman onto a paramedic.

The entire defensive staff is completely dumbfounded, yet silent as can be, they dont know what to do. Once they get to halftime they start to wonder if the kid is going to be driven back to the game at some point to help them in their effort.

The kid is hoisted off to the hospital where he received a full cat scan and returns later in the fourth quarter in street clothes. And of course with a clean bill of health.

The entire staff was cracking up about it the day after, they won of course.

Such a funny picture though of how quickly a little white lie can spiral out of control.
