So I am coaching my son's 4 and 5 year old Pee Wee Football team. By coaching, it is more of herding cats than anything else. (If you have ever seen any 4 and 5 year old sport, you know what I am talking about.) That said, the older boys "get it" and can retain some basic stuff.
We run "plays", which is to say "sweep right / left". Pass plays are run 4 yards, stop, face the QB (coach). It is basically a curl. Nothing too hard. Keep in mind, these are 4 and 5 year old kids.
Anyway, here is my conversation with a mom yesterday after practice:
Mom: My son needs to run the ball more.
Me: Your son ran the ball twice and he ran backwards both times.
Mom: Why are you teaching the boys plays? They can't remember them. They are only 4!
Me: Ma'am. It's sweep left and sweep right. I point which direction they need to run before every play. I did that with your son. He ran backwards.
Mom: There are several parents upset about you coaching, and one boy has already quit.
Me: Ma'am. You are more than welcome to coach this team on Saturday.
Mom walks off in disgust.
I know there are similar stories out there. Whatcha got RRS?
