I wasn't looking for a job, but a recruiter reached out with an opportunity that has turned out to be something that I am very interested in. I have since had 3 interviews and feel like I will get an offer.

When it came to compensation they mentioned that equity could be an option. But I don't know what exactly I should be asking for as it pertains to equity and I wanted to be prepared for when that convo comes up. Am I asking for a piece of the company? Am I asking for investor shares? What should I be asking for?

This company is a start up based in NYC (I would get to stay in Austin) and they have raised capital. I believe they did an angel round, then a seed round, and then an additional investment with a strategic partner. So I don't think the option wold be there for straight equity of the overall company (if I am saying that right) so just trying to figure out what I should be asking for.
