Football season hasn't started yet so I wanted to slip in one last OT thread.
Long story short my wife and I are both engineers in the O&G industry, she is petr. eng., I am mech. eng. She got laid off from her job at an independent operator due to current market, and as you are aware the job market sucks now. Anyways, her dad says that she should take a break and get an MBA, that its needed if she ever wants to be a manager some day. But I know plenty of engineers that are now managers at operators and engineering companies without MBAs (he claims you have to have one at the O&G company he works for).
I personally don't see any value to it as someone with a BS in engineering. Am I missing something? I know we have lots of engineers on the board so interested to see what you guys think.
Pics for your troubles:
