MART (May 7, 2015) Senior running back D'Marcus Cosby will not be a part of the Mart football team next season. Panther's head coach Kevin Hoffman confirmed to News 10 Sports that Cosby will be trying to graduate early in order to get a job to support his family and will not be a part of the team in 2015.
Cosby was one of the standout players on a Mart team that reached the state semifinals before losing 49-14 to eventual 2A Division I state champion Canadian.
He was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association 2A all-state second team as a running back in 2014. In 2013, Cosby was named to the 1A all-state second team by the associated press as a defensive back and to the second team as a running back by the TSWA.
Hoffman is entering his first season as head coach of Mart. He takes over for Rusty Nail who resigned after nine seasons as head coach to take a job at New York Life Insurance Company.
Mart opens the season on Friday, August 28 at home against Goldthwaite.
