Crazy Fort Worth
Headed out Friday from Ft. Worth to spend a few days visiting Ft. Davis, Marfa and Alpine. On the way we're spending the night in Monahans and possibly visiting the Sandhills State Park.

I've been out there before and love it but I was wondering if anyone has any good rec's for the area as far as dining and things to do with a little one. My daughter is almost 4 and this will be my first time heading out to the area with her. We're doing the Star Party and staying at the Indian Lodge in the Davis Mountains one night and I know she'll really dig that but Marfa especially is really stumping me. I've not toured the Chinati Foundation and would really like to but not sure how it would go with a kiddo in tow. Anyone have experience with this? How many dirty looks from the hipsters will I get?

We're staying at El Cosmico in Marfa. Will go out to the Mystery Lights viewing center one night. Going to visit the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute one day. Thought I'd take her up Hancock Hill in Alpine if it's not too tough for her. Going to visit a place called the Wassermann Wranch one day also. Will eat at Reata and Cowdog in Alpine for sure.

Anything else that is a must in the area for kids I'd appreciate it.

Also, I've never been to Sandhills or Balmorrhea. Since they're both on the way I thought I'd stop and check them out. Are they worth it? We won't be swimming at Balmorrhea so not sure if it's worth the stop just to walk around and check out. We've got a parks pass so it wouldn't cost anything.
