Some of you may have remembered a few years back that I was layed off due to economic conditions due to Covid at a GC as a project manager/estimator.
Prior to that I had been a project designer and project manager for two different architectural firms.
I took the plunge into starting my own business as a custom home designer/consultant/3D visualization over last couple years but just felt I always needed a few more clients a month to actually pull what I needed to make ends meet for my family.
So I took the leap back into the corporate world as a PM for an architecture firm in Austin TX for the past 12-13 months remotely.
It was a great gig…problem was with interest rates when I was hired to where we are now-we lost many clients due to those rates and reluctance to build.
As the latest hire ….as has happened before …I was first to hit the layoff line. Great firm/employees…but I’m still here looking for a new gig.
I have a Masters of Architecture from Tech back in 2005. Worked in a firm even while going through grad school back in 2003.
Since worked for a GC as a project manager/estimator after being a production manager for another firm.
Ran my own ship as mentioned for awhile.
This last gig was a good fun role and having experience in both the design and GC side of things -this design firm actually leaned more towards the GC side of way of looking at things in terms of metrics/schedules/profitability.
But again-we had multiple multi million dolllar contracts pull out and kill jobs due to financing rates.
So here I am.
. Not looking for any hand outs. Just a hand up!
I am geographically restricted to panhandle region if i need to show up in an in person position-but wouldn’t have any issue traveling some as needed for meetings/etc across state.
(I spent a lot of time in Austin with my old gig.)
Also open to other totally different career paths that could utilize that sort of skill set!
And finally also open to the individuals who’d be willing to give my resume a good once/twice over to help it stand out in the crowded world.
If you need to PM me that’s fine as well. Otherwise any advice-suggestions-etc….you name it-feel free to chime in!
