This is not going to happen, so save me the reasons why it wont and assume California votes to leave the Union next year and its state legislature removes law of the land status from the US Constitution. This would probably cause a constitutional crisis which would force the states to react in some way. Lets also assume Texas backs California's move and supports dissolution of the union all together after talks of a new Constitution fail.
