Yesterday I woke up to like 50 texts and 1,000s of emails all of which looked Chinese and Russian in nature. I knew something was up. Digging through all the texts, I found a legit one from Best Buy where it said thank you for your purchase. So I log in to my Best Buy account and someone had bought a $1700 MacBook on my account. Went in and cancelled the order and changed my password. Apparently it’s a fairly common scam where they hit you with a shit ton of spam in order to try and bury the legit purchase. I’m still getting crazy spam emails flowing in but it’s starting to quiet down.
Just a word of warning, if you get inundated with spam all of the sudden, look out.
