So I was surprised to learn that foreign exchange programs are currently active. We were contacted late Sunday evening about a kid who needed a placement confirmed by Monday morning or he'd lose his chance to participate this year (he had a couple placements fall apart at the last minute for a couple different reasons). We agreed to it and he arrives tomorrow night. This is a first for us so we're excited and somewhat nervous. Any of you go through this and have advice? From our rushed orientation it sounds like managing homesickness in the first few weeks is key to making it a successful year. FWIW he's 16 & from Thailand. From chatting with him on FB, his English is mediocre at best.
