My guess is the answer is "not much anymore". My two girls are 3rd generation Red Raiders. My youngest is a hs senior: top 16% in her class at a 6A hs in DFW, has a 3.8 GPA and a modest 20 on the ACT. She just received her "provisionally admited" letter. Been through this with daughter no. 1 (similar academics), she had to take her ACT multiple times to finally get full admissions. Btw, she is now a dean's/president's list Rawls business student who has been on the President's Select Committee all four years. I know Tech's goal is to get to 40K students by 2020, but being overly selective also runs the risk of alienating good students. My wife (Biology '93) is pissed and is telling daughter to just go to UNT.
