Very random situation.
Wife filled her car up last night, it went crazy while taking kids to school this morning. Bought the gas at the same station we use all the time. Car is a year old and in warranty.
I stop at the same station this evening to get some fuel and they are putting pumps out of order. Owner is there so I go talk to him (great guy, has owned the store for 18 years, honest guy) and he tells me that his supplier filled his premium gas tanks with diesel. I tell him about my wifes car and he says to let him know what happens as the supplier is liable.
So, been googling what happens to a gas engine when you try to run it on diesel and I’m betting we need a new engine. I’m certain Lexus is going to throw their hands up and I would think the warranty wouldn’t cover this (it really shouldn’t).
So, I know those pumps ran for at least 24 hours with diesel in the premium. The owner said I was the 2nd person he’d heard from. Theres no telling how many there might have been.
Any of you in the fuel supply business and know about this liability?
Really thinking I need to lawyer up on Monday morning.
Thanks for any advice. This is a new one for me.
