I've been putting it off as long as possible but it looks like I'll be getting my daughter her first phone soon. She starts middle school next year and will most likely be riding the bus home and staying by herself for a short time some days. I want to make sure she has a way to contact me when she's leaving school, getting home, etc. She's a good kid but I don't trust her as far as I can throw her with electronics. We let her use one of my wife's old phones on the wifi to text/facetime with friends a while back and through no fault of her own it caused a huge problem. I want to be able to monitor it and control what she's able to download to it to make sure it causes as few headaches as possible. Already planning on setting strict schedules on when she can/can't use it at home, etc. but I want to make sure she's not using it at school when she's not supposed to.
Any suggestions from those in similar situations? Best services, apps, etc.?
