The complete lack of leadership at this University is astounding. I was embarrassed watching that press conference yesterday. What you saw were two individuals without conviction, or a spine, simply collecting a paycheck. Do either of these individuals inspire you? I don’t know about you, but I damn sure wouldn‘t follow either of these men out of the boardroom, much less into battle.
For most of us on this site, Texas Tech is more that just a team we root for. That seems to be where the disconnect is. WE care about and love OUR University. For THEM, it’s just a job. Kirby, ever the politician, is looking out for himself and his future aspirations. This, coupled with his stubbornness, results in a refusal to make a change until it’s too late. Schovanec looks like a yes man and definitely not a leader. They have failed their fiduciary responsibility - these men do not have our best interests at heart.
HOWEVER, THE MOST INFURIATING & MADDENING PART IS THE REFUSAL TO ACCEPT HELP THAT IS PROGRAM CHANGING. I’m not even talking about the whole Briles issue. To have Alumni that are willing to step up financially to fix the problems that plague this program is incredible. In business, you F up to the tune of $9MM+, 99.999% of the time there is no one there to clean up your mess!
I am positive that a year from now we will be back in the same spot we find ourselves today - only in a deeper hole.
