Texas Tech was unable to secure the series victory after falling to Oklahoma 5-2 yesterday. The surprise of the game came from OU's Alec Hanson, who was able to pitch a complete game against the Red Raiders, while throwing just north of 100 pitches.

Hanson was able to keep the Tech hitters off balance all afternoon, and despite, at one point, throwing a first pitch strike to 11 of 12 Tech hitters, he was effectively wild. However, the Red Raiders were unable to capitalize on a crucial fifth inning where they scored two runs due to Hanson's wild pitches. Corey Raley (0-4 with 2 Ks) ended the threat by grounding into an inning ending double play.

Cameron Smith pitched a good game, despite allowing a few runners to get on base. Smith was able to work out of jams each inning, until the Sooner's half of the fifth, where Smith threw a meatball for Kolbey Carpenter, who made Smith pay in the form of a 3-run homer. The tide was turned, and the Red Raiders would not see good fortune for the rest of the afternoon.

Dalton Brown and Jacob Patterson relieved Smith in the seventh inning, where Brown failed to record an out after facing two Oklahoma batters, Brown surrendered a pair of singles and had a wild pitch to boot. Patterson allowed a safety squeeze bunt to score a run, and then an error on catcher Tyler Floyd allowed the final run for the Sooners on the day.

The surprise of the day out of the bullpen was Matt Custred. He relieved Patterson in the 8th inning, after Patterson allowed a leadoff double. Custred promptly recorded two strikeouts and got the final batter of the inning to pop out, stranding the leadoff runner at second.

Dylan Dusek has just been named the starter for today. He has struggled lately, as he only went 1.1 and 4.0 innings in his last two outings respectively. We look to see Dusek get back to his regular form and help the Red Raiders win the rubber match today.

Speaking of rubber matches, there are two more today, one involving inter-conference play between TCU and Oklahoma State, where Oklahoma State was able to take the Friday night game against number one ranked TCU.

The class of the Big 12 clearly sits upon the shoulders of TCU and UT, where both teams sit 4-1 coming into today's games. UT was able to win a double header yesterday vs KSU, after having their Friday night game postponed due to weather. Winning today's game verse Oklahoma will help Tech keep pace with both TCU and UT.
