You may remember the Scott Theater.
Google Wally Scott, one of the great sailplane pilots of all time and his son is a Tech Eng Grad, with honors and is one of main pilots in our soaring club of Hamilton, almost all West Texas folk.
One of our Odessa guys , Gary Evans a retired United Captg. flew 711 miles into Colo when he was 17 and in a med. performance glider. These guys are good.
2 flew 1000 K out of Odessa years ago.
The Germans would bring their gliders over and fly the summers. 75 percent of days are Soarable in West Texas.
Wally Scott Jr. was almost as good as his Dad. He teaches our kids in Hamilton. We now have 70 members and about 9 young ladies. Will hold a National Contest this summer. The World Chap will be in Uvalde this summer as well.
Now you might remember Dr Muxworthy in Odessa as well and his son Neil, also in our club, Delta guy.
Dr Muxworthy sold his practice to Dr. Skip Batch. uncle to Tech RB.
Dr Batch wants to give a 2 place glider to our club. We said, how great we will come and get it. He said no, I want to come see what you ole West Texas Boys have done. So he will be down soon.
Dr Batch went to Harvard Med.
