Natchitoches, LA, the home of the Northwestern State University, is a beautiful little college town on I-49 between Shreveport and Alexandria. The Cane River winds through downtown Natchitoches creating a perfect setting for dining, walking, shopping, etc. At Christmas time they have a Festival of Lights that is truly spectacular and has to be seen to be believed. Wifey and I go through there on our way to Baton Rouge from Frisco when we visit the kids. If you are ever in the area, especially at Christmas, it would be worth your time to visit the downtown area. There is a lot to do in and around Natchitoches. Definitely worth checking out.
