Well that game sucked and really it’s all because we had 4 terrible plays that had nothing to do with NC State and just players being dumb.

I risk posting this knowing @T. Beadles will probably just copy me again and get all the credit, but let’s look at the numbers.

After two FBS games, this defense is ELITE. Why? Special teams and our QB put them in terrible position and they still hold. This is the second week in a row where the opposing team has averaged starting on or close to their 40 and the D has only given up 13 and 20 points. This week it took trickery to get to 20 after the offense sucked.

how bad was the offense and really Donovan Smith? His expected points predicted added was -.17 per play. When he accounts for 64% of your offensive plays and 75% were pass, your O is going to suck. He actually cost the team -4.4 points this game. Leary didn’t do anything but he didn’t turn the ball over which is why they won.

Once we figured out to run the ball, Sir of Roderick was really good. .39 PPA per play. The problem is he only accounted for 14% of our plays. Kittley pretty much pulled a Kliff and gave up on the run right when it was working.

I have no football IQ, but the numbers tell me that no matter who is at QB, we need to be running the ball since we’re actually decent at it after two top 25 FBS teams.

Maybe actually use our giant TEs for catching the ball would help.
