First, I won't be doing a full notebook, as we weren't allowed to interview prospects at the camp due to some NCAA rules about being on campus. However, here are some notes and info from today.

Notable Visitors

Irving (Texas) Nimitz LB Noah Spears

Frisco (Texas) 2017 OL Jack Anderson

Amarillo (Texas) DT Ivory Jackson (COMMIT)

Lubbock (Texas) Coronado OL Emoree Giddens (COMMIT)

Notable Participants

Odessa (Texas) Permian safety Desmon Smith

Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy OL Bailey Smith

Mansfield (Texas) Lake Ridge QB Jett Duffey (COMMIT)

Houston (Texas) Episcopal OL Gio Pancotti (COMMIT)

Lubbock (Texas) Cooper 2017 QB Jarret Doege

Converse (Texas) Judson WR Gregory Craddock

Midland (Texas) Christian 2017 WR McLane Mannix

-Yes, as you read above, QB commit Jett Duffey decided to fully workout today, so I got to watch him throw and run through drills. And let me tell you, I was so, so impressed. He throws the ball with great zip out of his hand, and he was extremely accurate all afternoon. While he may not have a cannon as far as deep downfield throws, the ball gets wherever it's going in a real hurry and with great spin almost everywhere on the field. Oh yeah, and his forty time? 4.44. Yup.

-Also, want to know how much of a competitor he is? He hung out in Lubbock yesterday, competed in the camp today, and he decided to forgo his final visit day tomorrow in order to make it back for a 7-on-7 competition tonight.

- Another QB that really impressed me is 2017 Cooper QB Jarret Doege. He can really sling it with good velocity and accuracy, and he's already got a nice frame. I'm sure he's one of only of several unoffered 2017 QBs right there at the top for Tech right now.

- Turns out that Tech commits Ivory Jackson and Emoree Giddens know each other extremely well. They've competed quite a bit their whole lives in athletics seeing as one plays at Coronado and the other at Amarillo High. They hung out all afternoon with one another, and they've become good buddies.

-A really interesting prospect at today's camp was Converse Judson WR Greg Craddock. I say that, because no one knew who he was going into the camp today. He's a 6-2 to 6-3 wideout that ran a 4.47, and he moves really well. The strange thing is that he only played in two of Judson's playoff games last season, so there's really no film on him at all. I'd keep my eye out for this prospect around November, because he'll get noticed by coaches around the state if he develops his raw talent between now and then.

-Another player that could potentially get an offer is Odessa Permian safety Desmon Smith. He already has quite a few non-power five offers, and he showed out today. He's a long rangy DB that can play centerfield, and he can move well. Really, really liked him today.

-OL prospect Bailey Smith is a good looking lineman with a big body and wide frame. He had a solid day at the camp, too. Moved well and essentially dominated the competition. I don't think he'll get an offer right now, but he could be an option down the road for sure.

-Midland Christian slot WR McLane Mannix is fun to watch, and he's a quick player. He ran a 4.48 at today's camp, and he's really shifty. I know TCU, Nebraska, and Texas State are all interested, and he impressed some of the Tech coaches today. He's a guy I bet they take a closer look at next spring.

-Overall, I thought this was a much better camp than last year's one in Lubbock. Quite a bit of talent out there, and best of all, it was a beautiful day with cloud cover in the high 70s. Talk about a nice break from swamp-heat that I got to experience at most of the other camps.
