- Kingsbury said the win over Arkansas was "encouraging" given the atmosphere and how badly Arkansas needed that win.
- Kingsbury said the "most impressive thing" from the win was how the defense rose up in the second half and only allowed three points.
- "(Mahomes) did a good job moving around. He had a couple of throws he'd like to have back, but 26-of-30 is pretty efficient."
- "We made the most of those (58) plays. I think we averaged over eight yards per play."
- Kingsbury said that Reginald Davis has improved basically every week over the last two years. He said Davis' confidence is sky-high right now.
- Kingsbury on Lauderdale: "That's on me for not getting him involved early." Kingsbury said the Red Raiders need to get him involved early moving forward.
- "(Jah'Shawn Johnson) is instinctive and he will hit you."
- "For us to go three-and-out (on defense), then go and score, really set the tone."
- "As soon as we got to the locker room, they were talking about next week's game. [...] It wasn't very long after we got in that locker room that they were focused on TCU."
- Kingsbury said the key to Saturday is ball security. He pointed to the Red Raiders' four turnovers against TCU last year. "We have to protect the football better."
- Kingsbury on Mahomes' arm sleeve: "I think that's just straight swag for him."
- Kingsbury on TCU: "They have such an elusive quarterback. They have a veteran offensive line. Two NFL receivers, an NFL running back."
- Kingsbury on Mahomes' ball security: "He makes me nervous, too, but that's kind of his deal. He has really big hands, much like Aaron Rodgers does."
- "I think a lot of (the reductions in penalties) has to do, honestly, with our team maturing."
- "I'm sure (the players) will (use last year's score as motivation). You don't forget losing in that fashion. Those players remember that. [...] They will be fired up for this one."

- Kingsbury on the crowd tearing down the goalposts in 2001 and benches in the student section in 2002: "We got to tear some stuff up in those years. We've got to get back to that."
- Kingsbury said that Mike Smith has been "unbelievable" and turned down NFL opportunities after every season at Texas Tech.
