- Baylor's MaCio Teague set the Big 12 record for threes in a game with 10
- Baylor out rebounded Texas Tech, 40-27
- Texas Tech was held to seven turnovers compared to Baylor's 12. The Bears, however, turned Tech's turnovers into 13 points while Tech had 15 points despite five fewer turnovers
- A combined 40 personal fouls were called today. Texas Tech had 21 while Baylor finished with 19. The Red Raiders went 10-of-17 from the line. Baylor finished 15-of-22 from the charity stripe.
Chris Beard:
- Beard congratulated Scott Drew and Baylor for the conference championship. They deserved all the attention. Baylor's three guards can win them the championship if they play like they did. Beard added Texas Tech would've needed other moments go their way with how Baylor was shooting the three ball. They couldn't stop the bleeding. He wishes them luck going forward. "We just got to play better, obviously."
- You can't focus on one player, Beard said. A lot of mistakes were self-inflicted, he added. The basket got big for Baylor. Defense became not letting Teague not touch the ball but they played through him. Beard again congratulating the Bears.
- Kyler Edwards played with a lot of courage. Beard saying it's players that win games - no fancy plays or anything. He's not surprised Edwards is playing how he is right now.
- The stretch where Texas Tech closed the gap early was based on a gutsy first half with few turnovers. The final 16 minutes were about good jump shots and few mistakes.
- Beard saying he still believes this team can win the national title. They didn't go to Waco to prove they could play with Baylor. They know they can. The last NCAA tournament game was the national title game in 2019 – "which we played in." Beard not taking anything from just competing with Baylor. They wanted to win and expect to play better. This isn't the standard.
- Basketball wise, Tech's defense giving up 54 points was huge. They need to get gritty stops when needed and the offense needs to backup the defense. They failed on all three sides of the ball – offense, defense and special teams aka transitions. "We got punched in the face ... Off the top of my head that's the first time that's happened to us this season."
- "I got to coach better. Our teams don't get (popped like that) so give Baylor credit.
