While this situation has clearly calmed down, there may be more than just US actions leading to North Korea announcing they will "suspend nuclear testing".
It may be that they have to announce this because they can't test any more because they blew up their existing test facility:

If so, it's still good news for the rest of the world (except China which may be exposed to radiation).
For those interested in Jim Rickards view on this situation which I posted before, he tells me this is more than likely the main reason for the change of heart in North Korea and an increased willingness to work things out with the US. The sanctions on top of this problem may have NK set back for a long time.
