4. Jahmi’us Ramsey – Texas Tech Red Raiders

The highest-rated recruit in Texas Tech Basketball history, Ramsey performed up to the high preseason expectations. That included leading the team in scoring (15 ppg), while shooting 43% from three-point range and grabbing 4.0 rebounds a night. The 6’4 guard went for 20+ seven times, including going for 26 points in a loss to Kansas.

A solid scorer overall, Ramsey’s stock is right around the end of 1st/start of 2nd round. In a weak draft, that might be enough to push him out of Lubbock after one season. He’s not the greatest defender in the world and could work on his ability to scorer inside and draw fouls but overall, Ramsey solidified what many already thought of him as an offensive threat each game.

The question for the freshman guard is whether being on next season’s team will help his stock improve or not? Texas Tech brings in five-star combo guard Nimari Burnett, who has a similar skillset to Ramsey. And UNLV transfer Joel Ntambwe is predicted to be a big part of the team’s offense next season as well. With Kyler Edwards and Davide Moretti also coming back, there will be many mouths to feed on offense.

At the same time, playing on a preseason top-10 team with Final Four aspirations can be just as helpful for a player’s stock as putting up huge numbers in meaningless games. Ramsey will have one of the toughest decisions to make, with plenty of pros and cons to consider.
