Whenever I need to read about some track and field, I start looking to see if I can find entries about upcoming meets. A big meet like the Mt SAC Relays (over 8000 entries!) will usually post their entries as much as a week in advance. So I have seen the Tech entries for Mt SAC. A bonus: I also found the entries for the Michael Johnson Inv at Baylor this coming Saturday.
MT SAC
Frankly, I am really shocked at how few Red Raiders are going to Mt SAC this coming weekend - a total of 6. Here are the entries:
- Asia Diaz in the open 800 and open 1500
- Lillian Badaru in the Invitational 5K (this is a big deal, this field is loaded and very few college runners are in the field)
- Michelle Guzman is entered in someting called the "F-AM" 5K - I have looked all over the Mt SAC website and can't find a reference to "F-AM"
- Amanda Alley in the open pole vault
- Darrell Roddick in the open HJ and the Invitational TJ
- Waylon Randolph in the open LJ
And, that's it. No men distance runners listed. And, strangely enough, there are no male distance runners listed in the Baylor entries either. Maybe the distance runners will be entered later today or tomorrow at Baylor, since the entries don't close until tomorrow (Tuesday, April 14) at midnight. However, all of the alternates have been listed for Mt. SAC, so the six above are the only Red Raiders who will run there.
Here is how the Baylor entries shape up:
WOMEN
100 - Terra Evans
200 - Jamie Simanek
400 - Trudy Clarke, Jonisha Boleware
800- Shannon Jackson, Kearci Jobe, Devin Bailey
1500 - Christina Graham
100H - Sandra Iwunze, Tori Smith, Jamie Simanek
400H - Sandra Iwunze, Kelsey Lloyd
4X100
4X400 - A and B
HJ - Kelsey Lloyd, Amanda Dowdy
PV - Sage Lasater, Jessie Gibbs
LJ - Janell Appelhans, Veronica Dilullo
TJ - Veronica Dilullo
SP - Patience Knight, DeDe Carter
DT - DeDe Carter, Patience Knight, Ozie Okolie
HT - Ozie Okolie
MEN
100 - Julius Walker
200 - Markus Henderson, Tim Foster
400 - Gil Roberts, Lamont Adams, Rodney Mims, Brandon Washington, Bill Lawhorn, Jamaal Butler, Tim Foster
110H - Nathan Lowry, Brandon Tucker
400H - Jamele Mason
4X100
4X400 - A, B and C
PV - Brian Porter, Kelly Wilson
HJ - Justin Turner
LJ - Anthony Flemons, Bernard Hammonds, Travon Hill-Chadwick
TJ - Flemons, Hammonds
SP - Harrison Benjamin, Tyler Menges
DT - Brett McDaniel
JT - Paden Behrens
At Mt. SAC, I expect to see Lillian Badaru and Michelle Guzman in the 5K and Asia Diaz in the 1500 run first time regional times in those events. All of the other Mt. SAC competitors have already qualified for regionals in the events in which they are competing.
Who are the best bets to get first-time regional marks in Waco (in the events in which they are competiting)? Jonisha Boleware in the 400, Sandra Iwunze in the 100H, Kelsey Lloyd in the 400H, Amanda Dowdy in the HJ, Julius Walker in the 100, Markus Henderson in the 200, Gil Roberts and Lamont Adams and Brandon Washington and Bill Lawhorn in the 400, Nathan Lowry and Brandon Tucker in the 110H, Justin Turner in the HJ, Brian Porter in the PV and Tyler Menges in the SP.
I will check back on the Baylor entries over the next few days and see if any distance runners show up in the entry list.
