My thoughts are, I have no thoughts. What a horrific but fitting way to lose that one, right?
For as close as the final score indicates, it just never really felt like a game until the final minutes.
I was getting shades of the first Baylor game in this one, even a little bit of Iowa State with the near-completed comeback. Just not the most inspired performance for a large chunk of the game. Every loss during Big 12 play has a common theme and it’s been either getting outrebounded, committing more turnovers or both. And a team that has struggled all season with consistency on the defensive glass loses on a putback tip-in? Really? I thought I had seen it all with this team and it somehow got worse.
Obanor had another game where he performed well in the first half and vanished in the second half, but luckily for him, others were around to pick up the slack. I’d imagine Tech wins that one if K.O. puts together a full game, but the whole team has not been able to do that at all this season, so my expectations are far-fetched to say the least. I have yet to see a complete game from this squad all year.
It was another impressive performance from Tyson and Harmon, two of the only guys who are still appearing to give 100 percent consistently now. Their second half effort brought the guys back into it. Both shot 50 percent (or better in Harmon's case) from the field so offensively, they did their part. You can’t really ask for better shooting from anybody with those numbers.
This game felt like the first fight in The Dark Knight Rises where Bane is just kind of toying with Batman a little bit and you know Bane is going to win, but you still hold out hope for Batman. Batman gets his punches in, don't get me wrong, but it never really feels like he can win. Then Bane picks up Batman and breaks his back across his knee (John-Michael Wright gets the offensive board and putback) and it’s over. That was last night’s game.
K-State at home next? Good luck.
