Here's the notes from this afternoon's conversation with the head coach...

Opening Statement:

"Excited about the opportunity to continue Big 12 play, we know it's difficult on the road every night you watch the game and the Big 12 It's, you know, extremely competitive and physical. Having faced a team coached by coach Porter Moser, just he always has them prepared. I mean, defensively offensively, they're going to have a great plan. And obviously they've gotten more aggressive in the way they played. I think the game on both ends defensively and offensively and in our league. I think it's all one game seasons and you just got to be prepared for the game that you have in front of you and do the absolute best you can to put ourselves in position to win the game and it's going to be extremely difficult. Obviously Oklahoma lost to Texas at home and that's going to create an edge in the environment we're stepping into."

On OU coming off a home loss to UT:

"You know, in this league like everybody knows there's a sense of urgency, you know, people say is there gonna be more of a sense of urgency. I'm not sure that's the case. I think what you ended up doing is maybe trying to dive into some things that you knew over the course of the year that maybe you needed to make some adjustments on and it makes you quicker to make them. I'm not sure exactly what that will be going into this game. I just know that he's as good as it is. As they are in the country and make adjustments and they'll have one for this one."

On what Tech worked on over the bye week:

"Yeah, our Achilles heel, and it will be this way it will be our rebounding. It will be our ability to keep people off the glass and the better we rebound the basketball, the better we will play and it was a issue on Saturday against BYU. They got a lot of offensive rebounds and it put us behind, then creating extra possessions. And those are opportunities we can take advantage of and getting some transition which were were better in. And so for me rebounding is going to be the biggest area of improvement and I think it'll be that way all year long."

On bye week:

"The bye came at a great time for us. We needed a little breather there we play guys some significant minutes. We did give them a couple of days off in between our game Saturday and this game coming up against Oklahoma. We spaced them out. We didn't do a back-to-back. It felt like the rhythm would be important to keep that but it was extremely beneficial to give us a couple of days off to get our legs back under us."

"Definitely. When you see the beginning of our practices, we've had a little more visit to us. You know, before we went into that last practice against BYU can tell that the wear of the games it started to take its effect on our team. I do think we've got a tough group, that the longer we played, the better we get. But just initially to start games, to your point to start practices, I could see a difference that to us would have been a few days to recover."

On OU's guard play:

"You know, I mean, when you talk about the big 12 and great teams, you talk about great guard play and they've gotten great guard play. There's there's they're really skilled in the middle of the floor and creating offense obviously McCollum being a guy that you got to key on and find a way to limit his great looks to me. he made some any put you in a lot of difficult situations. It was and just from a team standpoint keeps great flow and it's got great guard play."

On OU's defending ability:

"I mean, they just play extremely hard. You know I they have a couple of different ways that they're that they're changing their ball screen coverages and they are making some adjustments that looks like in the last few games to who they want to play and how they want to play. They're an effective team when they can turn you over. I think early in the league and nonconference they did a good job of kind of creating the advantages and transition by being disruptive. In league play, they haven't been as disruptive I can see this being a point of emphasis on them making it difficult for us to move the basketball, trying to be more aggressive in their coverages just anticipating them coming out getting after it and really compete."
