Sounds like we won’t have to deal with him any more, which is a very good thing.
Recruiting is definitely important, but Rhule is the best example of how a coach can be additive on gameday. His teams have grit, which is why they were able to win so many close games this season - it’s not about luck or “karma”. It’s about toughness.
Rhule had a tough first seasons at both Temple and Baylor (even tougher than we did this year), but there were significant improvements in his second season at both stops. He competed for the conference in year 3 in both jobs.
If our culture is improving at Tech, we should see it pretty dramatically next season, even if we still have some talent deficiencies in our roster. We should win more close games than we lose, and we should see big improvement and development from guys who haven’t been contributors to this point.
I like Matt Wells and think he could be the guy to make a culture shift happen at Tech. I really hope that we start to see signs of it soon.
