5:54p Saturday update
Pretty likely it'll rain at Jones Stadium over next hour. Right now there's a new shower popping up near Wolfforth, moving NE. There's a bigger area of heavy rain with lightning a little farther away, probably would be near stadium 6:15-6:30. The heaviest part will probably pass just north or stadium.

Behind that it's clear. Can't rule out more storms developing, but looks good at this point for game time.

3:58p Saturday update

Scattered showers and storms have developed from just north of Lubbock (Abernathy to near Petersburg), stretching to the SW into New Mexico (near Livingston). These storms are moving from SW to NE. Forecast is on track...some storms in area moving SW to NE. It's just a matter of watching where the storms will be next few hours. It's not a continuous line, so it's not a definite yes or no on whether one will move into Lubbock next few hours.

12:38p Saturday update

No change from Friday. It's already in the upper 80s, will warm a few more degrees this afternoon. 40% chance for a shower or storm this afternoon into the evening.

Friday afternoon update

Rain chance has gone up a little more, 40% for Sat afternoon and evening. I think we will have storms in the area tomorrow, but the tricky part is knowing exactly where they will be. And there's no real signal to show any one part of the area favored. They'll be moving from SW to NE.

We had some rain this morning into early afternoon. It didn't last long at any one spot. It should be the same thing tomorrow, showers and storms move on through.

We'll still likely see a good amount of sun early to warm it into the lower 90s. If it does rain late afternoon then that would obviously lower temp below forecast. Kickoff around 87. Wind S/SE 10-18mph, dropping off some after sunset.

May want to bring a poncho, but there's still a decent chance no rain falls at Jones Stadium.

Thursday afternoon update

It still looks warm Saturday. The rain/storm chance is a little higher Saturday, now at 30% (or 70% chance it doesn't rain).

Kickoff around 87 dropping to the mid 70s by the end of the game. SE wind a little gusty early backing off after sunset.

Tuesday afternoon update

No change in the forecast, lower 90s Saturday afternoon, kick in the upper 80s.

Monday afternoon post
Thankfully it's a 7 p.m. kick. The end of this week will be hot in Lubbock, probably upper 90s Friday. High on Saturday should reach the lower 90s. Kickoff upper 80s dropping into the upper 70s late. Sunset is 7:52 p.m.

It'll get more humid late this week. There's a 10% chance for an afternoon storm both Saturday and Sunday.

For comparison purposes, high was 104 on game day last year in Tempe, upper 90s early in the game. But no need to remember that bad night.
