I was just listening to the Ticket, and Donovan Lewis and Corby Davidson were talking about the move by Lincoln Riley. I think Donny called it a "chicken sh*t," move and Corby was pretty critical as well.
Lincoln Riley was a very successful coach in his time at OU, but per reports indicate he was not happy about the move to the SEC. So Riley, who was completely and totally money whipped by USC decided to move to the Pac-12 which is struggling. I'm sure Riley thinks he can dominate that conference just like he did the Big 12, maybe he wasn't so sure about his ability to field a great team at OU after they move to the SEC. So Riley moves halfway across the country, to a team out of conference and is just getting totally ripped by local and national media for it.
What I'm having trouble with is I think this is comparable to what Chris Beard did, but Beard got almost no criticism outside of Lubbock.
Riley left to go out of conference and take a massive pay raise.
Beard left to go to his in conference, in state rival and took a pay cut to do so.
So when Riley leaves it's bad and "chicken sh*t," when Beard did it, it was "what'd you expect to happen."
