@C. Level is out of town, but he wanted me to post this reaction about to Kevin McCullar's commitment to Texas Tech:
I don't suggest things like this often when it comes to Texas Tech recruiting in any sport, especially basketball, but Kevin McCullar is a transcendent addition for the Red Raiders in the same way that T.J. Ford was for Texas and the way Blake Griffin was for Oklahoma. Trae Young's commitment to Oklahoma would be a more recent comparison along that same vein.
McCullar is still growing and he’s the best guard in the state of Texas. He's a pure point who knows how to run a team, is a high-level defender and can score at all three levels. Had he played his senior year he’d be a serious McDonald's All American candidate.
It goes without saying that he’s a starter from day one on the 2019-20 season for this team and the thought internally is that, like Zhaire Smith and probably Jarrett Culver, McCullar will have an opportunity to leave for the NBA before his eligibility is exhausted.
Beyond pure talent, McCullar comes from a great family and is a high character kid. He will fit in perfectly in Chris Beard's program.
