New Mexico W 24-3
Utah State W 38-16
N Texas W 13-7 (won in the last minute)
Louisiana Lafayette W 26-0
Baylor (finished 0-8 in Big 12) W 28-0
Kansas (finished 2-6 in Big 12) W 45-39
Oklahoma State (finished 1-7 in Big 12) 58-0
The only difference between that team and this year's is that team had a much easier schedule overall and Leach took over a program in much better shape than Wells did (no losing seasons in 8 previous seasons). The first Top 10 team we played was Nebraska, which beat us 56-3 at home in a game that wasn't even that close. We didn't beat anyone with a winning record and got blown out by East Freaking Carolina in the Furniture Bowl.
For all those 'jumping off the ledge', 'fire the coach' people do yourself a favor and give it some time. If you were expecting us to be competitive today you were setting yourself up for disappointment. If you think we should fire Kirby, or fire Wells, or fire whomever because you're mad as hell take a couple of shots and focus on the upcoming basketball season.
