Got lucky enough to go to the game with @LondonRedRaider and @MThomas2nd, and met up with @mbeatty @PrevostRaider @whittb14 and several other Red Raiders. Fun night for sure.
Game atmosphere was brutal. Ended up being 3/4 full. Crowd was hardly into it. Game presentation was JV, imo. Even though school is still out, I expected a LOT more from a #8 and #9 matchup.
Gamewise, we were unreal in the first half defensively....maybe even better than the KSU game. But we failed to turn a HUGE rebound advantage into points on the other end. Should have been up by 15. Second half we were just flat. Add that to Gray going out and Young finding his groove, and the end result is what it was.
You can break down a lot of things from offensive movement to defensive switching, but here's the honest truth.....it's basketball, we have a ton of youth and new players, and we were due a game like this. Nothing more, nothing less. We will beat those guys in Lubbock.
That said, you really can't appreciate Trey Young until you see him in person. He is playing a different game than anyone on the court.....maybe anyone in the country. He sees everything and can absolutely make the right play at the right time. When you see him in person, it will all make sense....passing, shooting, body control, vision....pretty amazing. So good, in fact, that we only have to worry about that dude for this year.
Anyway, fun night had by all. On to the next one.
Side note: We have more "coaches" in suits than the next 3 teams combined.
