BU, KSU, OSU, ISU, TCU all have one thing in common that Tech does not. Either the coaching continuity or a cultural identity, crafted over the last ten to twenty years, that allows them all to enjoy the fruits of long-standing quality depth. Tech has had the exact opposite for over a decade.

None of those programs are blue bloods, but all of them have stuck to a plan for a while. It's why they have serviceable line depth on both sides of the ball. It's why they commit so many fewer penalties. It's why they don't tire in the second half. It seems to me that you don't have to be elite with Top 25 recruiting classes every year to beat an adrift program regularly. Dykes and Aranda inherited 2 complete rosters with lots of depth. OSU has been program building for decades. ISU has a lifetime coach. KSU has a transcendent culture in place.

This was never going to turn around in 1 season, and it won't be that much better next year. Everyone knows this, but still gets sucked in. IMO, this needs to be the deal where the current coach is just left to do his thing for years and years with some acceptance and resignation. There isn't any other way to build an O-Line or D-Line that has the level of depth these other teams have. Maybe you get one or two servicable linemen from the portal, but honestly probably not. Tyrees don't grow on trees.
