- If you missed the other thread here's who is out this week: Behren Morton and Ty Buchanan.
Returning: Monroe Mills and Landon Peterson along with Trey Cleveland.

- Tyler Shough and Donovan Smith split the reps on Sunday. They will compete throughout the week with a starter being named Thursday.

- Jerand Bradley is in concussion protocol. He did some training on Sunday but did not participate in the full practice. He is going to be evaluated day-to-day.

- McGuire said he texted a congratulations to Lance Leipold for having Kansas at 6 wins and bowl eligible. He said he doesn't know which QB they'll face on Saturday.

- McGuire said he told Kittley to be aggressive on third down if the numbers were there analytically. It was his call. He did second-guess himself on a punt where Donovan had an option to throw it to Tahj in the flat. The tough thing, McGuire said, was they were elite on covering punts and kickoffs except for one. He said he talked to Kenny Perry as well about the game. The other thing with analytics is they usually don't take into account outside factors like rain, wind, ball placement, etc.

- McGuire said they sent in about 12 plays to the Big 12 to review officiating calls. At the time of the press conference they didn't have the results. Some plays are the ones they disagree with while some are to understand the officiating better.

- More on Leipold, McGuire said he is a culture builder. He has seen him build winning cultures at every stop he's been. He didn't necessarily compare Leipold to Bill Snyder but said years down the road this Kansas program could be the second or third best turnaround in college football.

- McGuire said there's definitely a difference when you see the effort of the Red Raiders on film. He said this following a question about expectations for this team and the culture being built for the future. He said this is the time of year where you see different schools starting to evaluate and flip recruits. He said they had a meeting to discuss the future of the program this morning and they want to retain their whole recruiting class. Where does that start? It starts on the offensive and defensive lines. They'll also focus on bringing back the guys that have eligibility left. The future is bright, he said. He mentioned a conversation with Behren Morton and said they looked at the talent and how young everyone is - Morton a RS freshman, Bradley a RS freshman, Ty Buchanan a RS freshman, Jacoby Jackson a RS freshman. They all played in the game and really well. He mentioned Mason Tharp and Cam'Ron Valdez as well. The vets are giving them great leadership but the young guys are playing at a high-level.

- McGuire said they tried to stay in the same routine last Friday but obviously that did not happen with flight delays. He said they tried to take off earlier in the day to get out of Lubbock to avoid the situation. Southwest was flying out at the same time they told Tech they could fly. That time being noon, which McGuire said they were ready to go, but didn't fly into Meacham International Airport until 8 p.m. They usually would leave and get the hotel and dinner going and include a movie as a team. That didn't happen. They landed, got dinner and the hotel going and it was bedtime.
