So I took my traditional day off to let all those vent who needed to vent. And it went as I supposed it would. It's your right to do so, but it makes me sad.
Remember, this was predicted to be a 2-3 year process towards being really competitive at the top of the conference. We are dreadfully thin as far as talent goes. Yesterday we lost our QB in the first half when we were leading and were left to play a QB who hadn't played for all practical purposes in weeks, and he was obviously still weakened from his injury. Still we led into the 4th quarter and only a bad facemask call changed the game (and that changed it tremendously).
We were playing with half our OL missing, with one of our best WRs still at home, and our other two tall WRs playing hurt. The lack of size and speed at WR really hurt us yesterday, and our WRs, other than Sparkman, did not compete as hard as I would have liked for the ball.
Nevertheless, I am still solidly behind Coach McGuire and this staff. Yes, they all have things to learn, but I believe in them and what they are trying to do. this season will sharpen them. In the meantime they are still recruiting well, in spite of all the crap being posted on this board that recruits and family are privy to read. @more classes like the one McGuire and Blanchard gathered in only 2 weeks last year and we will be where we want to be.
And I am behind these young men who play for us. They are all busting their butts for us and I owe them my allegiance and support.
Bigger, faster, stronger is on the way...but it doesn't happen overnight. And we forget in our enthusiasm for the weekly contest and our passion to become what we want to be, that it takes time. So I can not speak for you, but I will be solidly behind what this staff wants to do. and I will give them the time to do it. That may mean living through tough times, but sometimes that's what it takes. I'm a Red Raider, I'm used to doing so. Wreck em.
