That Dykes is the best option for our next coach. He is now 7-1, set new records for SMU last night, has some dudes committed to him. But my biggest qualification is he’s now been HC at 3 programs needing some serious help. To me that’s worth more than anyone who has never been HC before. We have heard the phrase ‘he was way over his head’ when describing our HC so many times, and we would be saying the same with one who has never been THE guy or even a coordinator.
My thoughts on Briles- he was at Baylor a few years before they entered that ‘elite’ status because of one reason. He did anything to build a massive roster and that included welcoming the Oakman types who made them the Darth Vader. I remember Level himself saying that was the biggest team he had ever seen. Herbsteit also said Briles paraded having the biggest bad men with street cred regardless of morals. He won’t be able to build that again with a microscope over him if he ever lands somewhere. He will be the next Chip Kelly. And that’snot to mention his past with Baylor. He should never be able to coach again. Seriously.
