I'm sure this has probably been hashed out in one of the long threads related to the fine... But in the Big 12's release Yormark was quoted mentioning that Tech has a solid event management plan in place to ensure safety for all fans, officials and student-athletes... but something to the effect of it failing regardless.
So how does a conference expect a school to prevent 10,000 excited, rowdy and (many at least) drunk college age students from rushing the field? I don't think an increase in security numbers will help that. I don't think a $50,000 fine will do that. A public reprimand sure as hell isn't going to do it. So then, how is it accomplished? What can the (not Tech specifically) school do, if anything, without discouraging student attendance and passion?
