So as a health care provider, I can speak for many of us who have been scared within a heartbeat of a fatal stroke by threats of grave penalties for even the leak of one bit of personal information...penalties that begin with 5 figures for bit of information leaked!!
Yet we have had multiple leaks of detailed, comprehensive information by Equifax and Verizon and others( today we are hearing of a run upon the NFLPA database), without seemingly any major penalties being handed down. Certainly not $10K for every bit of info leaked.
It couldn't be that it is easier and far more politically expedient to go after doctors, dentists and medical facilities than corporate entities could it? It couldn't be that the only way government knows how to grow business is to establish more bureaucracy to enforce more laws and levy more penalties upon the citizenry, while ignoring the massive problems that major corporate f' ups cause on a regular basis, could it?!
