Now that you guys have looked, I need your help!
My wife, Chelsea, was a Special Education Teacher for elementary school ages kids before staying home with our two daughters...through her years teaching she made many connections with students, but she made a very special connection with a sweet girl named Katie.Katie was a happy healthy young lady...until one morning in April when she woke up very very ill, a fever of 104 and vomiting....her parents quickly rushed her to her pediatrician and her pediatrician sent her by ambulance to Children's....there she was admitted into ICU where it was determined she was already in sepsis... Katie was treated with heart lung bypass and dialysis to give her precious organs a rest from the infection that suddenly was ravaging her little body... Later that evening the doctors suspected a brain bleed, after taking her for a CAT scan is was determined that Katie suffered a significant stroke on the right side of her brain.... That night, Katie's little body could no longer fight the infection, she passed away the evening of April 27, 2015.
Chelsea is very close with her parents and family, she has done and is doing everything possible to keep Katie's spirit alive for them (she was their only child)... Chelsea has participated in the Buddy Walk in Tarrant County for the past 6 years, but this will be the first year for her to be the captain of her own team.... We are currently at 39% of our goal of $2,500... The DEADLINE to achieve our goal is OCTOBER 13th... Just 4 days away!$2,500 gets us a team canopy at the event, and I know Chelsea would love to be able to "host" everyone at the canopy in memory of Katie, with a canopy she will be able to share Katie's story in a very vibrant way....she's thinking cupcake bar, Katie's favorite!! If we were to reach $10,000 our team would earn a trip to Morgan's Wonderland, a 25 acres accessible amusement park in San Antonio for children and adults with special cognitive and physical needs, Chelsea would love to gift this trip to Katie's parents so that they then can choose a family to gift it to in honor of Katie.... Please consider joining us in Arlington, Texas to walk for Katie and/or please consider making a donation to our team! Below is what my wife has written for Katie's team page.....
It will be the FIRST year for Katie's Kuties to walk in the North Texas Buddy Walk, but it will NOT be the last!! This team was started in memory of Katie - an incredible young woman with a bright smile, a contagious giggle, a sassy attitude, the best dance moves, and who gave the tightest hugs and biggest kisses. She was an absolute joy to be around and we want to continue to share that joy with everyone around us!
Lastly, I know some on here dislike when people come to RRS looking for donation, so I made this my last option, but I need help. My wife has worked extremely hard, and if I could donate the rest to at least hit the $2,500 mark I would, but unfortunately I can’t. Any help that this great community can provide is greatly appreciated!!
