Not what you think. Today, my miniature schnauzer of 14 1/2 years passed away. She had several seizures and likely had a brain tumor. We made her comfortable as my two boys made their way home from college to see her. They just barely missed her.
She would field tennis balls on a 105 degree day in August in Dallas for two hours outside and never quit. She could cut on a dime and catch them consistently in the air. Guests came to our house and she would bug them to throw the ball until they gave in. She was relentless and everyone eventually gave in. My wife had just last week purchased new tennis balls for her. Pound for pound, she was the best athlete that I have ever seen. She was also so smart it was scary.
I grew up on a farm and ranch and had many dogs growing up; border collies, australian shepherds, blue heelers, all manner of hunting dogs, etc. This was without a doubt the best dog I ever had. She was my dear dear friend and we celebrate her life on this Thanksgiving holiday but with great sadness for our loss.
