I came to Lubbock in 1973 to play on the golf team. Oh boy, have times changed! People and students couldn't wait to get out of Lubbock. My have times ever changed. Lubbock is now maybe the best city in Texas to live based on peace, civility and wonderful economic costs of living/housing etc.

Back in the 70's Tech had horrible facilities and struggling teams. Our resources were restricted and it was very mediocre. The best thing was that people here are seriously good people and over time things have now changed.

The facilities that are now being upgraded are best anywhere. Football, basketball and T&F are so happy with all that has happened and is about to happen. Baseball is obviously in great shape with today's news, also. I hear that tennis is about to have a facilities upgrade also.

Oh and we are legitimately working toward national championships in all sports. Oh my!!!!

Football is the hardest sport to turn around. I have been here since 1973 and still want to see a legit conference championship.

I'm just proud and excited by all of the support our donors are giving to help our staffs recruit and grow and succeed.
