A lot can change over the next 7 days but we got to see maybe the weirdest but most fun Tech football game in a long time

Offense
  • Starting with QB play, Morton did what we needed him to do. Complete 64% of his passes and leading Tech down to score 55% of the time. Houston had 2 more possessions but Morton and the team played surprising well
  • One of the key of victories was getting RBs touches. We did just that with 33 touches for 229 yards. Brooks crossed 2k rushing yards in his career at Texas Tech. If he keeps getting the rock, we could see him catch up to James Hadnot (2794) , SaRodorick Thompson (2664) Larry Isaac (2633) and Baron Batch (2501). He has 2037 yards. Brooks will need 7 more rushing TDs to pass Batch and Zebbie Lethridge at 27 TDs). Both of these are now very doable.
    • We got to see Valdez come in with only 5 touches for 106 yards and 1 TD to ice it. First time since 2012 New Mexico that two RBs have run for 100+ (Stephens and Williams).
  • Loic Founoji had a game in the first half with that blocked Punt and catching a 25 yard TD.
  • Seven WRs caught the ball and did damage
  • Kittley called what I think was a near perfect game. Morton stayed pretty cleaned with only Ceaser getting a sacked against him. It is obvious that Morton is a tad banged up but he did what we needed to win.
Defense
  • Lets skip the first half. Smith seemed to know the play calls. Second half was a different story where DeRuyter's half time adjustments pitched the 3rd 2nd half shoutout of his time at Techs.
  • Ben Roberts has stepped up a lot these past few games with 10 tackles.
  • A lot of young people on the chart with Roberts, Lewis, Dingle, Adedire, Esters, Tilmon, peoples, McAlpine, Cofield, Dyson, Anthony White (thank you matador club)
  • The only major thing was lack of sacks (1) and turnovers.
Special teams
  • Mentioned it last week that McCray will score a KR TD. He did just that.
  • Loic had a blocked punt and a score right after.
  • Austin keeps avg close to 50 yards a punt with another long of 59. Special teams were pretty great.

This team has a hard road game which is a must win for us against Baylor. Can Morton get rid of his Baylor demon performance this time? Hopefully with a strong run game we can get one on the road.
