TTU RECRUITING THIS WEEK
a slow week on the recruiting trail with only one (1) new offer made by the coaches, but this is very much the calm before the storm - school ends today for most kids across the state and camps + official visits start next week and continue throughout the month of June
there was more Micah Hudson talk, a Futurecast entry by @B. Golan and several other recruiting updates this week...
new offer
Texas Tech offered Georgetown 2027 athlete Jalani Culpepper this week. The 5-foot-7, 150-pound standout 8TH GRADER and freshman to be already holds nine (9) early offers from your Red Raiders, Campbell, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan State, Nevada, Purdue, San Jose State and Western Kentucky.
TTU makes the Top 7 for DE Eddy Smith
Pearland Dawson defensive end Eddy Smith will be in Lubbock for his official visit next month, and the three-star standout has now included the Red Raiders in his Top 7 schools. The Red Raiders join Houston, Kansas, Oregon, TCU, Purdue and Oklahoma State as finalists. Smith lists 25 total offers and has official visits scheduled to Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, TCU and Oregon.
Hammond invited to the Elite 11 Finals
Hutto quarterback and Texas Tech commitment William Hammond was officially invited to the Elite 11 Finals last night. The event finals feature 20-25 of the best quarterback prospects from around the nation, and this will result in Hammond getting much more national exposure as he has the opportunity to compete against the best of the best.
The tape and the offers speak for themselves, but the Elite 11 has a rich history of hosting the most talented signal-callers in the nation and this is a great accomplishment for the four-star standout.
a few stats from the Elite 11 website...
12 of the past 13 quarterbacks to have won the Heisman Trophy attended the Elite 11 Finals or an Elite 11 Regional
15 of the top 20 NFL passers in 2019 attended the Elite 11 Finals or an Elite 11 Regional
The Elite 11 Finals are set to begin on Wednesday, June 14-16th in Los Angeles, California
big dudes beat up little dudes
every NFL rookie went through mini-camps over the past few weeks and took their official team photos, so in response to a photo of Tyree Wilson looking huge that the Las Vegas Raiders posted...Coach McGuire shared this picture of TTU defensive end Myles Cole looking equally as huge and said 'your up next'
other than severely triggering the grammar crowd, McGuire reminds everyone that there is another large human being playing rush end for the Red Raiders this Fall. the coaches were very excited about landing Cole around this time last year. I recall him walking around the field after the spring game, he is just a big dude and that same guy has now experienced a year-plus within the program - lifting, nutrition, practices, games, etc.
listed at 6-foot-6, 285-pounds there are many who believe Cole could be the one being drafted at next year's NFL Draft with a solid super senior season this year.
Athlon Sports released Preseason All-Big 12 Teams
six (6) Red Raiders were listed on the various all-conference teams here. we can all find something to complain about, but I personally don't care about these way-too-early all-conference teams and neither should you.
let's focus on how the list includes three (3) defensive players with two (2) defensive linemen
let's focus on how the offense's two (2) breakout underclassmen - Bradley and Brooks - are listed
I'm sure there were some snubs or some guys underrated, but that is the fun of proving people wrong...iirc Tyree Wilson was like 3rd team on these same lists last year, so grades of slaw
100 days until kickoff
no real commentary here, just a reminder that we are 100 days away from the season kickoff against Wyoming
random recruiting edit of the week
not a real segment, but one I might have to create...this was too good not to share, this is bananaland and not something I would have ever expected to see
but congrats Auburn, you do have the only school with a Bucee's and you should shout it from the mountain tops

Recruiting - Around the Big 12
there were zero commitments around the Big 12 conference this week, even the new members went 0-fer this week.
have a great weekend everyone!
