My iPhone mail app (stock) shows that I have 36 unread emails. When I go to the Unread folder, nothing shows up.
After disabling both of my linked email accounts one by one and restarting the phone, it became clear that this was some sort of issue with Gmail. I tried Mark All/Unread/Read on both the app and the web interface, didn't help. I've deleted all of the contents of my spam and trash folder, didn't help.
The number of phantom unread emails continues to grow, as well. No clue why or how.
