After a few days of decompressing and being able to really look back at the satellite camp circuit as a whole, here are a few thoughts/tidbits that are really sticking with me that I wanted to share.

-First, the Red Raiders picked up three commitments while on the satellite camp tour: DE Houston Miller, LB Johnathan Picone, and CB Damarcus Fields. In my opinion, all three pulled the trigger in part because of how they felt around the Tech coaching staff in person, as all three attended a camp, with Fields even participating. All three stressed to me how great they felt around the staff in person, the energy, and the family atmosphere. In fact, all three gushed about it, and I think that led to all three pulling the trigger instead of waiting until a later date.

-In fact, with Houston Miller, he told me at the Euless Trinity camp last Sunday that he felt great about things with Tech and would likely commit after his visit to Iowa. He decided to go ahead and commit even before that, which should tell you just how he feels about the Red Raiders.

-Other than Gibbs and Spavital, this entire Tech coaching staff has had quite a bit of time to bond and get to know each other over the last few years, and I think their synergy and enthusiasm as in-person recruiters is palpable. You can feel the energy they bounce off one another, and they gel so well as a group. I think Gibbs and Spav both fit in really well, too. You can tell that the prospects, both visiting and participating, really do feed off the coaching staff as a collective whole.

-It really is impressive to see just how many legitimate relationships each and every one of these Tech coaches have built with such a large number of prospects and how they interact with each other. It's real, and each and every prospect I spoke with that has been building a relationship with Tech emphasized just how much that meant to them.

-I'd rank the camps from most talented to least talented this year in this order: Spring, Longview, Lancaster, Mercer, Euless Trinity, New Braunfels.

-This is I believe the third go-around for Kliff Kingsbury and his staff running the satellite camp circuit, and its become a well oiled-machine at this point. You can thank Kenny Bell for a lot of that.

-As for the on-field coaching, it's very hand-on. The coaches make sure to demonstrate everything they want by first doing it themselves, and they're patient. Don't get me wrong, they'll get after it and onto kids if they mess up or aren't paying attention, but it is never jarring screaming. It's a tone of wanting to see their players succeed, and quite a few prospects I talked to took notice.

-So, overall, I think it was another successful round of satellite camps. At this point, winning games is what will bear big fruits of the labor put in with recruiting. The staff understands that, and they're doing their best to water and foster what they're trying to grow. Trust me, I've seen it in person.
