I've been working on some Python scripts for work that pull back the stats from the NCAA stat site and export those into a SQL database as practice. I decided to check out our final 6 opponents. There is some numbers I thought were interesting. Stats aren't everything, but they can tell what teams are good at, and not so good at, in relation to each other.
Tech obviously has the best offense of all of the final 6. Also has the worst Defense, statistically, but forcing turnovers. OU, OSU and WVU have turned it over quite a bit. This could be good for us. OSU has the only defense capable of slowing the Tech offense down because of those 2 DE. Ogbah and Bean have 13 Sacks and 21.5 TFL between them. LeRaven can handle 1 of them, but can Brown handle the other?
OU and OSU are struggling to run the ball. Gibbs needs to find a way to take advantage of that. Which leads to our biggest advantage defensively::
O Line play at OU, OSU, WVU and UT is all down this year. Really need the front 4 to get consistent pressure and be strong against the run in these games. Gibbs doesn't seem to blitz much.
Defensivly, OU, OSU, WVU look better because they have not faced Baylor or TCU yet.
