• TJ Holyfield. Obviously very skilled big. I’ll be interested to see if he can play like a true post with his back to the basket, but man, he’s very comfortable handling the ball and his jumper is wet.
• Ramsey. Goodness gracious. He’s gonna put some people on posters this year. He’s on pogo sticks. Smooth jumper. The way he moves laterally on defense really puts his athleticism on display too. I guess that’s what 5-stars are supposed to look like. He plays hard.
• Shannon. Speaking of playing hard. Man oh man. Attacking the rim with wreckless abandon. A couple of freshman mistakes. Not a plus ball handler. But he’s a bulldog. With he and Ramsey attacking from the wings, we’re gonna go to the line a lot and Moro is gonna get a lot of good looks.
• Mccullar. As Level said on the broadcast, he’s an unknown, but he looked pretty spry to me. Competent ball handler. Competitive. All these guys are so competitive. Beard’s fingerprints are all over each and every player.
• Kyler played well, but I think not having a true point guard will hurt us at times. The motion offense will hide it, but when we need someone to penetrate late in games against really tough defense, i don’t know if we have that guy. That’s my only concern. I wanted to see Clarke lock some people down or push the ball a bit. His impact was pretty minimal but I’m sure that will change as we gel.
Overall, this team is hyper-athletic and, like all Beard teams, is gonna make you fight for every bucket. We look to have multiple threats from deep. Jah’mius is gonna be must-watch all year and I’m happy to go along for that ride. It should be a fun year, boyos.
